Whilst some people are lucky enough to be able to do their own restoration work, most of us simply don't have the time, space or expertise required. We have heard mixed reviews about people entrusting their pride and joy to various garages for repair work and full-blown restorations, so here are some tips:
- Join a Mini club, go to Mini shows and talk to lots of other Mini owners about their experiences.
- Whilst some local garages are excellent, specialist Mini garages tend to have more specific experience and are more likely to have the correct parts to hand.
- Be clear about what work you want carrying out and to what level.
- Get more than one quote so that you can compare.
- Get quotes in writing so that all parties are clear on what is included in the price.
- Make clear agreements (preferably in writing) regarding procedures if extra work is found to be necessary.
